My weight loss challenge

As some of you know I have been battling with my weight my whole life.  Eventually I accepted that I am always going to be overweight, but recently I have found that I am very uncomfortable and Im battling to get things done, especially in my hectic life.  One of our neighbours recently advertised a Weight Loss challenge and 6 of us in the neighbourhood joined.  This was 6 weeks ago.  THis challenge included Herbalife, but was not essential.  Anyway I decided to go with the Herbalife to give me a kick start.

During the last two years I have been slowly losing weight and I had already lost 20kgs.  This year, before the challenge, I had already lost 3 kgs.  My total loss I would like to achieve is is 59 kgs, less the 23 I had lost up until the challenge started. This now leaves me with another 36 to lose.

Since I stated the challenge I have lost another 2 kgs.  On top of that I have also started walking 5 days a week, with the rest of the challengers.  I am so motivated.  However I have found that even though I have stuck to the diet I am not losing enough, yes I know the underactive thyroid and the rhuematoid arthritis medication does affect my metabolism, but surely I should be losing more.

They do not only look at weight loss, but also other elements such as body fat, water, muscle mass, physical rating , bone mass and visceral fat.  Even though the weight has not been coming down fast, I am losing and gaining in the other areas, which is great.  My visceral fat is down by 1, which is awesome!

Anyway I discussed this with them and they suggested that I include the “The eat right for my blood type” in my diet.  Now for those of you who know me, know that I also suffer from Diverticulousis., which also has an effect on my weight loss.  Well I have TypeA blood, which is basically a vegetarian diet, with some fish and chicken allowed.  I am okay with the chicken, but I am really battling with the fish.   So I started to include and exclude these foods last week.  Guess what?  It had such an effect on my diverticulousis, I could just not believe it!!!!!  No more enlarged bloated stomach.  It was awesome.  I cant wait to weigh in tonight to see if it has had an effect on my weight elements.  I am feeling so much better that I still cant believe it.

Unfortunately Da wanted a roast and veggies for dinner last night, so I decided to eat it as well, but had smaller portions, guess what, within an hour my stomach was enlarged and bloated again, it is still the same and painful this morning.  But I am glad I did it as it has proven to me that I have to stick to the Type A foods.

The only problem I have with the Blood type foods is that Da is type O, which is basically a meat diet, so I have to cook two different meals everyday, which is a bit of a bind, but I really dont mind all that much as I am so committed to doing this.

Tonight is our weigh-in and I will let you know tomorrow night how well I did.  I need tons of support, as I have found that the support is the key to losing weight.

Well that is it for now.

Take care, love much and be safe out there

  1. I feel for you, as I’m in a similar boat. I tried gym and enrolled for a year. I couldn’t keep it up due to new commitments in my life.

  2. Er, I don’t mean mayonnaise is included, but that there are vegan substitutes just like the ‘real’ thing, as with other kinds of foods. Mostly soya-based.

  3. Well done with your determination! Don’t be too impatient. As long as there is a steady downward trend, you are winning! I know too many people who have rushed a spectacular weight loss, but not only suffered health-wise as a result but then rebounded into a massive gain again.
Have you tried a totally vegan diet? It is amazing what a variety of foodstuffs that covers – even mayonnaise! Elder granddaughter is 100% vegan, and she thrives on it.

  4. Judging by what you wrote I see that you are well on your way to victory. Keep it up.

  5. Keep going you’re doing a great job. 1kg is 1kg less.
